Building a Minecraft 1.10.2 Multiplayer Server Using Hamachi

February 12, 2023

Minecraft Server

Minecraft multiplayer servers provide an exciting opportunity to play with friends or connect with players from around the world. While there are several ways to set up a Minecraft server, using Hamachi is a popular option that allows you to create a virtual private network (VPN) for secure multiplayer gameplay. In this article, we'll guide you through the process of building a Minecraft 1.10.2 multiplayer server using Hamachi.

Step 1: Download and Install Hamachi

To begin, you'll need to download and install Hamachi on the computer that will act as the server host. Hamachi is available for both Windows and Mac operating systems. Visit the official Hamachi website or a trusted software download platform and follow the instructions to download and install the appropriate version for your operating system.

Step 2: Set Up a Network

Once Hamachi is installed, open the application and click on the "Network" tab. From the drop-down menu, select "Create a new network." Enter a name for your network and choose a strong password. Share the network name and password with the players you want to invite to your Minecraft server. They will need this information to connect to your network and join the server.

Step 3: Configure Hamachi Network Settings

To ensure smooth connectivity and gameplay, it's important to configure the Hamachi network settings correctly. Click on the "Preferences" option in the Hamachi application and select the "Network" tab. Here, adjust the "Connection type" to "Moderate" or "High." This setting helps optimize network performance for gaming. Additionally, ensure that the "Metric" is set to "Automatic" to enable automatic routing.

Step 4: Set Up the Minecraft Server

Now it's time to set up the Minecraft server. Download the Minecraft server software for version 1.10.2 from the official Minecraft website or a reliable source. Save the server software in a dedicated folder on your computer. Open the folder, right-click on the server file, and select "Open with" followed by "Java(TM) Platform SE binary." This will launch the server console.

Step 5: Configure Minecraft Server Settings

In the server console, you can configure various settings for your Minecraft server. Open the "server.properties" file using a text editor. Adjust settings such as server name, game mode, maximum players, and world settings according to your preferences. Save the changes and exit the text editor.

Step 6: Connect to the Hamachi Network

To connect your Minecraft server to the Hamachi network, open the server console again. Type "ipconfig" (Windows) or "ifconfig" (Mac) in the console to retrieve your computer's IP address. Note down the IPv4 address. Return to the Hamachi application and ensure that your network is active and you are connected. Share your IPv4 address with the players who will be joining your server.

Step 7: Start the Minecraft Server

To start your Minecraft server, return to the server console and type "java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar <server file name>.jar nogui" without the quotation marks. Press "Enter" to execute the command. The server will start, and you will see a log of server activity in the console.

Step 8: Join the Minecraft Server

To join the Minecraft server, players must launch their Minecraft game and select "Multiplayer" from the main menu. Click on "Add Server" and enter a name for the server. In the server address field, type your Hamachi IPv4 address followed by a colon and the server port (default port is 25565). Click "Done" to save the server details. The server will now appear in the multiplayer server list, and players can join by selecting it and clicking "Join Server."

Allows you to create a secure and private environment for multiplayer gameplay. By following the steps outlined above, you can set up your own server and invite friends or other players to join in on the fun. So, gather your fellow Minecraft enthusiasts, establish your network using Hamachi, and embark on exciting multiplayer adventures in the world of Minecraft 1.10.2.
